Your postpartum fitness journey…

When can I start exercising again once I have had my baby?

Gentle walking can begin as soon as you feel comfortable after birth, and once you have had your GP check at around 6/8 weeks if you feel up to it you can begin exercising. Keep in mind that your core muscles and lower back are weaker post pregnancy and your joints are less stable making the risk of injury higher. ⁣⁣ Recovery post labour is different for everyone.

⁣⁣

Benefits include:⁣⁣

✨ Improving your mood - studies have linked exercise to reduced risk of post natal depression⁣⁣

✨ Improving stamina - helping you take on the challenges of motherhood!⁣⁣

✨ Improves muscles weakened by pregnancy such as the pelvic floor ⁣

✨ Promotes better sleep (if baby lets you!) ⁣⁣✨ Relieves stress⁣⁣

⁣⁣

The process of healing postnatally is individual. Be patient with yourselves mamas. Rebuild your core and pelvic floor at your own pace and listen to your body 💛 Find an instructor who understands what your body needs!
