Personal Training sessions take place at RS Fitness Newlyn. 

How it started...

Hi, I’m Jen. I am a fitness instructor and personal trainer based in Cornwall. I specialise in working with mums and mums to be, helping them to make health and fitness a priority. 

 

When I had my first daughter I had no idea how to train through pregnancy. I was kickboxing and going to the gym most nights when I found out I was expecting...I spoke to my midwife and the advice was to stop exercising, so I did! 6 weeks postpartum I was super keen to get back to some sort of exercise and went for a run...I thought I was going to die! I had no idea how to train my postpartum body. There is so much conflicting information out there when you look at fitness for mums and mums to be and having been there (completely confused!!)

 

I am passionate about helping mums-to-be and new mums to train safely and to help them feel confident, strong and to enjoy the benefits of exercising without the worry of whether they are doing the right thing. I qualified as an ante and post natal instructor when I was pregnant with my second daughter and I fell in love with helping mums to feel good. Fast forward 3 years and I feel super grateful to have built an amazing community of mums who support each other and make training together so much fun!

I discovered befit classes with Jen through recommendation from a friend with a baby the same age as mine (about 1yr old at the time) I’d exercised in the past but never really stuck at or more importantly enjoyed anything, I hadn’t done anything since having my first baby 4 years prior. I went once and was HOOKED. Instantly. Not only because Jen is so lovely, supportive, encouraging, inspiring and motivational but the group of women who go are just the same! I look forward to going to the gym every time, I never dread it, every single work out is different, and I’m almost 2 years in and can’t imagine not having this in my life ever again. My little boy didn’t take long to settle into it and now loves it and everyone there. I feel so happy to take him along and show him a healthy example of keeping fit and strong, community, friendship and support. When lockdown came round I was worried. I didn’t think I would keep it up without the gym atmosphere, but I realised it was a lot about the amazing group of women not just the exercise and looked forward to the chat before and after as well as the work out. I still do a couple at home zoom sessions a week as well as in gym. If you’re thinking of joining but feeling nervous please do not hesitate. As soon as you walk in whoever you see will smile and welcome you in. you’ll never feel nervous and be hooked I promise.
